About Me

My Really Long Bio

I was born as Jessica Craig in Massachusetts, a New Englander. My husband and I moved to Phoenix Arizona to attend school. We liked it so much we decided to stay. People ask us why we decided to live in Phoenix. Yes it’s hot and we know this, but we’d rather deal with the heat than with the cold.

My family is HUGE by today’s standards; I’m the eldest of six children. We are all full blooded siblings too; this is what makes us unique these days. No, we didn’t have a farm and my family isn’t overly religious…I’m not sure why my parents had so many children. I guess they just liked having a bunch of little hellions running around.

My husband Rick and I moved to AZ as boyfriend-girlfriend and after a very long engagement we got married. We met while in high school and we’ve made it work for many years. I think we’re just very compatible and the fact that we’ve lived apart from our families has created a greater bond between us. We learned to work things out with each other rather than running off to the comfort of family. I’m really happy and I know Rick is too. I think people are surprised we’ve been together so long; but we are great.

I went to school for Computer Aided Drafting (CAD). I think it was a very good decision on my part. I’ve never had a problem finding work and I’m very good at it. I got involved with CAD by chance. I had enrolled in a manual drafting class in high school (One of three girls in the class I think). I picked up on drafting very quickly and finished all the assignments half way through the year. My instructor, out of desperation, said to me “Here, I don’t have anything else for you to do, but I just got in this software, it’s called AutoCAD. You should teach yourself this.” The rest is history.

I’ve always been artistic; most of my family is in some way. I think my Mom passed it on to us. She’s always been what I call a doodler. All the notes and napkins from her had little drawings on them (Thanks Mom). When in high school I took every art type class I could, it just makes me happy. I’ll hope to keep on painting, drawing, whatever for the rest of my life and I’ll enjoy every minute of it.

I like taking pictures, especially of my friends, family and pets. Through photography you capture moments in time and can hold onto them forever. I’m the crafty type; I guess that goes along with being artistic.
Rick and I started learning about wine in late 2005. All I can say now is, Mmmm More Wine! Wine is fascinating. It varies so much and it’s always changing. I love red wine now, I used to hate it. It’s true what they say that it’s an acquired taste. Rick and I go to a little wine bar, Cave Creek Wines, regularly to attend the wine class they have almost every Friday. The owners are great and the atmosphere is casual. It’s easy to learn and everyone I’ve met there has been so nice. Thanks to Bob and Liza at CCW for being great people and having a great place! This place has become our “Cheers”…where everyone knows your name.

I love rock and metal music, actually I like most types of music except for the old country junk. Rick and I go to concerts on occasion, usually to see a rock group. I also LOVE to dance. I can dance for hours and hours with the right mix of music. Rick can attest to this fact…his words recently at a dance club…something like “Damn girl, you are a machine!” I think he said this around 2 or 3 am while I was still dancing my butt off LOL. I’ve also been getting into belly dancing too. I’ve got the right body for this – a lot of bootie and hips (LOL). I think it comes naturally to me because of this.

I have both cats and dogs; it’s hard to imagine life without pets. I’m actually allergic to cats, but I just like them so much. They make our lives hectic though. I think after these guys pass on we’ll take a break from pets for a while, that way it’ll be easier for us to travel etc.

I would love to travel a lot more. I’ve been to Canada before, but now we’ve both been to Dominican Republic and Mexico. I hope to keep it up and continue to travel all over the world. We’d like to go to Europe sometime too, I figure that since we don’t have any children we have no excuses not to travel more. I’ve made it a personal goal to plan on traveling outside of the U.S. at least every other year for now.

I may look sweet and innocent, but believe me that this is not really true. I’ve got a bit of a wild side and only close friends and family will see it. I think I get away with a lot of stuff because of this and I do use it to my advantage, I always have…got to work with what you’ve got right?

I’ve got an interesting personality I think, a little nutty at times. My entire family, extended and immediate, is filled with so many interesting people. We may be a little extreme at times, but we’ve got big hearts and we care a lot for each other. We say there is no such thing as “normal”, dysfunction is the norm as far as we’re concerned. Special thanks to all my friends and family for being so unique and awesome!

I love my family and friends; I think they are what life is about. I’m not very religious, but I believe in God. I hear a lot about if you don’t do this or that you won’t go to Heaven etc. That doesn’t make any sense to me; what is Heaven after all? I’m a good person and frankly I’m not worried about where I go. I’m not sure what awaits us after death. What I do know is I want to be where ever the rest of my family is. I love you all and you are my Heaven.

So there’s the over view about me, hope you learned something.

Me!
This is me – 2006.
