I’ve been slacking a bit with my updates so this will be a combo of things of late…
Pirates of the Carribean 2 – Rick and I saw this movie last Tues, the 25th. We orginally intended to see the premier of Miami Vice, but it sold out before we were seated. Anyway, I thought P2 was good. It was long, but kept me entertained throughout. I was a little dissapointed at the ending, due to the fact that it didn’t really end…it was left open for the third which I later learned was already filmed so I guess we’ll be seeing the third next year. It was a fun film and I do recommend it.
JJ’s Birdland Cafe – Rick and I met up with some friends here last Thursday, the 27th. They are a little jazz restaurant close to our home. On Thursday they were featuring a blues/rock band named New Experience (or something like that). They were pretty good. We had a fairly large group with us, 10-12 I think; it was a good time and we’ll probably go again.
This past weekend we finally got temps below 100 which meant we could get some work done in the garage and outside, it was a nice break.
Saturday CCW Tasting – Rick and I went to the CCW tasting on both Friday and Saturday. They featured several rieslings from Germany, which we both enjoyed. On Friday the place was packed, we got there just in time. It was so busy that Bob, the owner, had to turn some people away…first time I’ve seen that happen. On Saturday it was much less busy, only a couple dozen people there – funny how that happens. On Saturday our friend Jawhn stopped by near the end of the tasting. We left with him and headed out for a night in Scottsdale with some of his friends for a bday celebration. His friends were really nice, I think their names were Rob, John (aka Fred) and Joanie. I hope we meet them again, a nice bunch of people.
Sunday was our lazy day, well sort of. We worked out in the garage for most of the morning and early afternoon on the Fiero and the Honda. I cleaned up some of Rick’s mess on the counters to give him some space to work. Our friend Anthony stopped by and chatted for a bit and then Rick and I went out to Gramaldi’s for some pizza and beer. We stayed at home the rest of the day, working on the Honda a bit more before having dinner and getting in a few more loads of laundry.
