Whisky-Cars-Wedding-Wine

Rick and I had an eventful weekend. We started it off early on Thurs night. Our friend Amy invited us to an invitation only Johnny Walker tasting. I think I’ve had that brand of whisky before, but it was a mixer and a while ago. It was a good event though. We got to taste 5 different types they offer, from the cheapest to the most expensive (Red, Black, Gold, Green and Blue). I liked the Gold the best because of the creamy taste. The host reccommended we drink that one ice cold. They all had that burning sensation at first, but were all drinkable. Thanks for the invite Amy!
On Friday we headed to CA, our friends Anthony and Diane agreed to check in on our animals for us – thanks guys! It’s a long 6 hr drive from Phx so we didn’t arrive until Friday, late afternoon. We were bummed because we had to stay at a crappy Red Roof Inn because our favorite hotel, Wooley’s was sold and purchased by a La Crappa (La Quinta) Inn. Thankfully we didn’t spend much time there anyway. On Sat we went to a car show at Knott’s Park, the annual kit car show they have. It was a dissapointing show this year. The weather wasn’t great, cloudy and in the 60’s but it never actually rained although it taunted us all weekend. A lot of the people we know from there didn’t show up this year so poor Rick was sad…sniff sniff. It was still nice to check out all the cars I think.
On Sat night we drove to my friend Candy’s wedding, sat in traffic for an hour and a half but we finally made it. I haven’t seen her for 7 years I think, not since our other friend Michele was married (Michele was there too). She looked beautiful, she always does and Michele looked great too. Candy has 2 kids now and Michele 3, they keep them very busy. Candy married Hector, the father of her kids and the man she’s been with since we all went to school in 1997 (It’s about time Hector – geesh!). I’m really happy for them both. The reception was fun, they have a lot of nice family and friends…I’m happy we went and Rick had a good time too. CONGRATULATIONS!
On Sun we decided to stop in on the car show again to see if there we any late arrivals. Unfortunately there was only 1 additional car there and the weather didn’t improve. We left the show and went back to Temecula (The town where Candy was married). We found out that it’s a big wine area so we did some tastings etc. I think we went to 4 different wineries. There were several I like and some I didn’t but that’s the beauty of tastings. We tried a really yummy sherry at the first place, tasted just like pecan pie! YUM YUM
We got home on Sun night. All the animals were good, just missing us. It was nice to sleep in my bed and it sucked having to wake up on Monday morning….always does though. :)
