Filipino Karaoke

Rick and I went out with some friends on Friday night to a Filipino Karaoke bar. Our friend Liza raves about it all the time at CCW. So we decided to check it out. It was located within a Philipino market (You wouldn’t be able to find it unless you knew where to look). We walked in and the manager/owner recognized some of the people with us from the week before…Liza wasn’t there yet. They sing songs in English there so it wasn’t much different from other Karaoke places. We ordered a few of the regular dishes and a bunch of us decided to be daring and ordered a dish of the Sisig (Deep friend pig snout and ears). It wasn’t horrible, but wasn’t good either. It tasted like the chewy, fatty piece of bacon but with a lot more grease. Rick didn’t want to try it though…I figured, what the heck – I’ve been on this kick lately of trying new things. I also recently tried a dog cookie. My dogs love them and my curiosity got the better of me. I have to say I was disspointed – just tasted like dry bran. I was expecting something more flavorful. You could probably chop it up into little pieces, add some banannas and milk and whohlaa – bran cereal. Anyway, the bar was a lot of fun – but I did drink too much. They allow you to bring in your own alcohol there which was nice, but you end up drinking too much. Rick was driving so I didn’t have to worry about that. I told him I’d be the designated driver next time…
